Few medical experts are as renowned in the respective fields as Dr. David Samadi. He is the big man on campus at the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York serving as the Chairman of Urology and the Chief of Robotic Surgery. Dr. Samadi is truly a jack of all trades. He specializes in treating a variety of illnesses including urologic diseases, kidney cancer, and bladder cancer. He is particularly known for the countless minimally invasive procedures he’s done for prostate cancer. He has practiced at multiple medical institutions including Mt. Sinai School of Medicine where he served as the Vice Chair of the Department of Urology for a short time.
Though he is based in the U.S. Dr. Samadi is a bit of a journeyman. He has been the lead surgeon on numerous operations abroad spanning close to 50 countries in total. He even went to France and started a robotic radical prostatectomy fellowship at Henri Mondor Hospital Creteil.
Dr. Samadi is a marvelous surgeon but he does have other interests as well. He hosted a medical advice TV show for 5 years on the Fox network and has since began voicing a radio program and website dedicated to sharing health related news. He is also very interested in the new medical breakthroughs paying close attention to the latest medical technologies. He follows alternative medicine as well.
Though Dr. Samadi is known as a talented physician who is known for performing robotic prostate surgeries, for a long time he only focused on performing conventional prostate surgeries. It wasn’t until 2000 that he discovered doctors were using laparoscopic methods for similar procedures. He then traveled to France to gain experience using robots in the operating room he brought back his new techniques to the U.S. and the rest is history.
For as long as Dr. Samadi can remember he’s always wanted to be a doctor. He attributes this to his strong desire to help others in need. His passion for improving the lives of his fellow man truly shows in his practice. Dr. Samadi just hopes every one of his patients leave the hospital in significantly less pain than they came in with.
